Not every mammal-derived excipient contains alpha-gal at clinically meaningful levels, but highly sensitive patients may still react. It is important to note that even highly purified pharmaceutical excipients can contain trace amounts of alpha-gal so patients with alpha-gal syndrome should proceed with caution.
